SoftVariant is a simple and cost-effective tool for configuring and personalizing any S60 3rd edition handset. It is designed to save you time and limit the costs generated by your IT team by moving the handset customization process closer to the End User.

It doesn’t matter whether you are reconfiguring your company’s devices or managing a project for one of your partners - SoftVariant is simple enough to be used by any non-telecom--related End User. In fact it is so simple that your IT and support will not have to deal with as many FAQ’s throughout the project’s lifecycle.

EXAMPLES & SUCCESS CASES

Phone vendors/distributors: We have delivered SoftVariant to one of our Partners who are a major handset distributor in Poland. Their desire was to bring to the market a promotional handset, customized specifically for all football fans. Containing a specially modified football menu, internet bookmarks and a football game, SoftVariant was distributed with a few hundred handsets during one of the EURO Football events.

Enterprise customers: Psiloc has implemented SoftVariant to equip the employees of a company in Norway with ready to-use-handsets. Knowing that in this case quality comes first, we arranged a special version of the phones software. Employees of the Ministry now work with handsets with a modified menu, six accordingly set icons in the front menu of the phone (active standby screen), Intellisync client installed for a set of predefined licenses, F-secure client installed and auto started, address book configured accordingly, WLAN access point setup, email setup, bookmarks, soft key configuration, to mention just a few… As a result we have achieved a full success by providing our Partner with the best available customization according to top industry standards.

Operators: It is a priority for every GSM provider to have an easily implementable solution for a wide range of handsets. Moreover, it is crucial to make sure that the solution will generate data transfers within their network. At the same time the market now demands an ever more individualized approach to each End User. If you are looking forward to increasing ARPU with your own branded browser application or other third party application then successful delivery and installation of such application may be a hard thing to achieve for some people. SoftVariant can deliver any third party application to the End User and perform full installation and configuration without any interaction from the End User. Intellysync, CISCO ICC client, OneBridge and many other applications including games and multimedia are possible.

Subscribers: It is often a problem that proper configuration of a handset is too hard for the average End User who can’t cope with all the technical issues within their mobile. SoftVariant is the perfect aid in this case because it offers two ways of installing a package. OTA (Over-The-Air) is a version of SoftVariant especially useful for operators who can push a WAP link to the End Users via SMS. It is even easier for End Users to use the second option where SoftVariant is delivered on a MMC (Multi Media Memory) card. All the End User has to do is just stick the card in the phone and wait for it to install.
